Our refer a friend scheme is currently open for new recommendations.

Q. What is the Triodos Refer a Friend Scheme?

A. Our customers have asked how they can help us to further our mission to make money work for positive social, environmental and cultural change. The simple answer is to help us grow our community by recommending us to others. To help do that we’ve introduced our Refer a Friend Scheme which is an easy and inspiring way for our existing customers to recommend us, be thanked for doing so, and to thank new customers for joining Triodos Bank.

To thank our existing customers, we will make a £25 donation to a charity on their behalf for every friend they recommend. Similarly, we will say thank you to all new customers who are referred and open a personal current account offering them a gift of a £60 voucher from one of our business customers, or by making a charity donation on their behalf. New customers can choose which reward they receive.

Q. How does the Refer a Friend scheme work?

A. If you are an existing customer and over 18, you can refer your friends to open a Triodos personal current account. Once the friend you referred has opened their Triodos personal current account and deposited £100 within 30 days, you both receive a thank you gift (£25 donation to charity for you, £60 voucher or charity donation for them). New customers, the one being referred, needs to have completed their account opening within 60 days of registering for our Refer a Friend Scheme.

To support us in delivering our Refer a Friend Scheme, we’ve partnered with Marketing Lounge Partnership (MLP) who are providers of referral platform services. To participate in the scheme existing customers can either use the link send from Triodos Bank or simply visit join.triodos.co.uk. The link/website will prompt you to register with MLP and agree to the Refer a Friend Scheme terms and conditions to participate.

Once you’ve registered for the scheme, you can refer your friends in a variety of ways, for example by simply and easily sharing a message via social media. If the friend you refer is new to Triodos Bank UK and opens their personal current account and deposits £100 within 30 days you will both receive a thank you gift from us.

Q. Who is eligible to participate in the scheme?

Our Refer a Friend scheme is open to all Triodos customers, over the age of 18 years. For you and your friend to be eligible for a thank you gift your friend will need to open a Triodos personal current account and deposit £100 into new account within 30 days. These steps need to be completed within 60 days of registering for the Refer a Friend Scheme. See terms and conditions for more information.

Q. I am a Triodos Customer. How do I register for the Refer a Friend Scheme?

A. Simply visit join.triodos.co.uk where you can register and start referring your friends.

Q. I am a Triodos Customer but haven’t been invited to join the scheme – why not?

A. We’re taking a phased approach of inviting customers (by email) to participate in the scheme in order to sustainably manage our operationals in opening new personal current accounts. We are only promoting the scheme to customers who have opted in to receive marketing from us.That’s not to say if you haven’t received an email from us to join the scheme you can’t - just visit join.triodos.co.uk.

Q. I have been referred to Triodos Bank by a friend. What do I need to do so that we can both receive our thank you gifts?

A. When you click on the link your friend has sent it will take you to the website join.triodos.co.uk to register for the scheme. Here you will start the process of applying for and opening your Triodos personal current account.

When you first register for the Refer a Friend Scheme please make sure you use the email address that you will be using to apply and operate your new Triodos personal current account once opened.

To be eligible for a thank you gift you will need to open a Triodos personal current account and deposit £100 into this new account within 30 days. Complete these steps within 60 days of registering for the Refer a Friend Scheme. See terms and conditions for full details.

Recommendations

Q. As a Triodos customer can I recommend a friend to join Triodos by opening a Triodos savings or investment account, or is it just the Triodos personal current account?

A. Currently the Refer a Friend Scheme is only applicable to new customers who open a Triodos personal current account. All other accounts are excluded. For us to make the £25 donation to one of our charity partners on your behalf and for your friend to receive their £60 gift, the recommended friend will have to be a new customer to Triodos Bank, open a personal current account and deposit £100 within 30 days to be eligible. New customers must complete these steps within 60 days of registering for the Refer a Friend Scheme. See terms and conditions for full details.

Q. Is there a limit to how many people I can recommend to Triodos using the Refer a Friend Scheme?

A. You can recommend as many friends to Triodos Bank as you wish. However, we will only make up to a maximum of 30 donations to your chosen charity within a 12-month period for every eligible friend you refer. See terms and conditions for full details. We’d be delighted though of course if you wanted to recommend many more friends and family but unfortunately it would have to be outside of the Refer a Friend Scheme.

Q. I have a joint savings account. Can I recommend the other account holder for a personal current account?

A. No, your recommended friend must be a brand-new customer to Triodos Bank to be eligible. They need to be a new customer to Triodos Bank, open a Triodos personal current account and deposit £100 within 30 days to be eligible. New customers must complete these steps within 60 days of registering for the Refer a Friend Scheme.

Q. If I recommend two people and they both switch to a joint Triodos personal current account; will you reward them both?

A. Yes, if they are both new customers to Triodos Bank and £100 is deposited into their joint account within 30 days of opening their account.

Q. Does my friend qualify for the Refer a Friend Scheme if they already have a Triodos savings account with you?

A. No. To be eligible friends must be brand-new customers to Triodos Bank (i.e. not currently hold any accounts with us).

Q. Will you contact my friend and ask them to open a Triodos personal current account?

A. No, we won’t contact your friend as we don’t ask you for any of their contact details. When you’ve registered for our Refer a Friend Scheme, you will have a unique link to share with your friend. The link opens join.triodos.co.uk where your friend can register their details and apply for their Triodos personal current account.

Gifts – existing customers

Q. How do I qualify for my Refer a Friend gift as an existing customer of Triodos Bank?

A. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Compete the ‘Register to get started’ form at join.triodos.co.uk.
  2. You will then be sent an email to the email address provided, along with a unique code to share with your friends.
  3. Send this unique code to as many friends as you wish (by social media or text message for example) to tell them about Triodos Bank and the personal current account. Your friend must apply for their personal current account using the unique code you supplied and once opened, deposit £100 in 30 days to be eligible, within 60 days of registering for the Refer a Friend offer.
  4. Once your friend has opened their personal current account and this has been validated you will receive an email from noreply@join.triodos.co.uk inviting you to choose from our three partner charities. We will make a £25 donation to on your behalf. You can view the status of all the referrals you’ve made at join.triodos.co.uk Just log in to see these.
  5. We will make up to 30 donations on your behalf in a 12-month period for every eligible customer you refer.

Q. I haven’t received my gift – what should I do?

A. Please contact our Refer a Friend Scheme management partner, Marketing Lounge Partnership (MLP), You can contact them on by calling 01565 747 801. Lines are open Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm.

Q. I have referred someone. How do I know whether I’ll get a gift

A. We will let you know when your friend has successfully met the eligibility criteria. Remember, your friend must be a brand-new customer to Triodos Bank when opening their personal current account and must also deposit £100 within 30 days.

We will then invite you to choose from our three charity partners to whom we will make a £25 donation on your behalf.

You can login to your Refer a Friend account at join.triodos.co.uk and review all your referrals and status in the members area.

Q. I have referred someone. How do I know whether I’ll get a gift?

A. When your friend is a brand new customer to Triodos Bank, having opened their personal current account and deposited £100 within 30 days, we will let you know that they have successfully met the eligibility criteria and you can chose from our three partner charities to whom we will make a £25 donation to on your behalf. You can login to your Refer a Friend account at join.triodos.co.uk and review all your referrals and status in the members area.

Q. Who are your charity partners?

A. We are supporting three of our long-term charity partners – Friends of the Earth, RSPB and the Soil Association.

Q. Will donations be eligible for gift aid?

A. No

Q. How will the charities receive my gift donation?

A. Our partner Marketing Lounge Partnership, who provides our Refer a Friend Scheme service, will make the donations on your behalf to the charities through www.forgoodcauses.org – an online platform for charity giving.

Q. What if my friend closes their new Triodos personal current account? Will you still make a donation to the charity on my behalf?

A. Your friend’s account needs to be open for us to issue a gift.

Gifts – new customers

Q. I have been referred by a friend to Triodos Bank UK. How do I qualify for a gift?

A. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Compete the ‘Register to get started’ form at: join.triodos.co.uk
  2. Follow the link to open your new Triodos personal current account
  3. Make sure to use the same email address when you register to the one you will use for your personal current account application and to operate the account so we can make sure you receive your gift.
  4. Deposit £100 into your personal current account within 30 days.
  5. Complete the above within 60 days of registering for the Refer a Friend offer.
  6. You will receive an email from noreply@join.triodos.co.uk inviting you to choose your gift within 7 days of validation. Choose a £60 gift of either vouchers from Ethical Superstore or Neal’s Yard or a charity donation, or a combination of both vouchers and charity donation.
  7. Your vouchers will be sent to you by email – check your junk/spam folder if they haven’t arrived within 30 days.

Q. What gifts can I choose from?

A. To say thank you for joining Triodos Bank we’re offering a gift of a value up to £60. You can choose to receive either a £60 voucher for Ethical Superstore or Neal’s Yard Remedies or you can choose to donate your £60 to one of our charity partners. Alternatively, you can choose a mix of both. It is up to you.

Q. Once I have chosen my gift can I change it?

A. No, once you have chosen your gift we will not be able to change this for you. Please make sure you read all the information available to you before selecting your gift.

Q. When will I receive my gift?

A. We will send your gift by email within 30 days from you choosing it. You must be a new customer to Triodos Bank to receive your gift. You can login in to your Refer a Friend account at join.triodos.co.uk for a status update – just head to the members area.

A. Your account needs to be open for us to issue a gift.

A. Marketing Lounge Partnership (MLP) is the provider of our Refer a Friend Scheme. They are leading experts in referral programmes and regularly support other banks and regulated businesses with Refer a Friend schemes. Triodos want to offer a safe and easy experience when recommending their friends and MLP help provide that service. .

Q. Are you sharing my data with Marketing Lounge Partnership (MLP)?

A. Data is shared between Triodos Bank UK and MLP only for the purposes of fulfilling the scheme. Disclosure to MLP is for the purposes of providing processing and fulfilment services on behalf of Triodos. We always ensure that the third parties protect your personal data in the same way that we do. Please see our privacy statement for more details.
